Building a marina is the perfect solution for many owners. However, if you are planning to build a marina, you may be looking for different types of marina dock kits available in the market today.
In general, there are three types of marinas that you can choose from when building a private marina.
If you are planning to build a commercial marina, you have to choose between a floating private marina, floating public/hybrid marina and dry dock.
As discussed below, you can choose among these three types of marinas depending upon your needs.
The floating or private marina is the most expensive type of marina.
It consists of open concrete slabs with steel connections between the slabs.
A well-built dock system is incorporated in this type of marina.
However, the drawback of this type of marina is that there is no protection from hurricanes and other waves.
The open concrete slabs are connected to the shore by a steel support and the slabs have concrete channels that allow water to pass through them.
The concrete channels allow water to flow through the dock system and also prevent the build up of sediment on the dock floor.
This type of marina usually has the best protection against hurricanes and typhoons.
But it also costs more than the floating marina.
On the other hand, if you are not planning to use the marina for long periods of time, it is the most suitable type of marina for you.
The second type of marina is the floating public marina which is also known as dry dock system.
This type of marina has a concrete channel that allows water to pass through the docks.
It is highly preferred by owners of large ships and also for large fishing vessels that need the watercraft protection provided by the dry dock system.
However, this type of marina is most expensive because you need to pay monthly fees to the marina operator.
In addition, the third type of marina is the In-port facility.
This type of marina provides the best watercraft protection and also comes with a dock system.
This is the most cost-effective among the types of marinas and owners usually pay monthly fees for the privilege of using the marina.
However, you must keep in mind that although this facility comes with highly efficient watercraft protection, it may be quite far away from your private island.
You can choose to use the fifth type of marina that is an inflatable boat marina.
This type of marina is perfect for owners who do not own any boats.
You can rent this marina with the use of a boat or float to the marina to access your boats.
Although this might sound like a good deal, you must realize that the renting cost will always be much higher than buying.
Therefore, before deciding to use this option, you should assess whether your private island is capable of storing a boat or not.
